First Steps Handbook – Publishing and Marketing Guidelines – Big City Informer News Network

The Big City Informer News Network is a service owned and operated by Netventure24 LLC. We provide local city news for the biggest cities in the world. So far the news came from the few big agencies and some executive manager in his office tower somewhere (who secretly hates the Internet) decided what we get to know and what not. And then we all have to believe and follow that news. Do we really? Not anymore! On the Big City Informer News Network all the news come from the people who live and work in the big cities, and they should know best what happens there and what the latest breaking news are. Every city-page works with many different authors from this city who regularly publish their news and everybody can comment on those news. That way we are faster and more on the spot then the old news networks. And now you can be a part of it (and maybe even earn some money).

4 Questions for you:

Do you own a blog/ website or have experience in writing and publishing articles online?
Do you live and work in one of the Big City Informer News Network Cities?
Are you at least 18 years old?
Do you have a Google AdSense account and are familiar with the usage and the AdSense Terms and Conditions.

If you answer all questions with a clear YES, then you can become a part of our team, spread the news, discuss the news and earn from the news.

As a Big City Informer Author you will:

Publish the news for your city
Share your opinion about all the news, network wide
Make a name for yourself as an author with interesting opinions and views
Have a second income stream (no, you probably won’t become a millionaire through us, but the more and better your news the more you can earn from your Google AdSense Ads)

What you will have to do:

Write news about your city (Business, Entertainment, Health, Politics, Society, Sports, Tech, Travel, Other News and Videos) regularly and in English language
Each of your news should be between 200 to 500 words long
Big City Informer News Network authors write between 5 to 10 articles per week, the minimum is 1 news article per week to stay active in the network
You should be active in the community, vote on other news, reply to comments from your readers and share your own opinions on other news (this makes people interested in you and they might just read your news as well)

What the Big City Informer News Network will do for you:

We will provide the platform for you to publish your news
We will do the marketing and drive the traffic (although you can do your share, more later)
We will provide the powerful Big City Informer Advertising Revenue Sharing for your earnings (The cool part – 80% of the revenue from the 2 best performing Advertising spots on your news pages are automatically yours via your own Google AdSense account)
We do social media and viral marketing for you (details later)

What you should not do:

You are only allowed to publish your own news, no copies from other websites. The content you deliver has to be unique, meaning you won’t publish the same anywhere else and it hasn’t been published anywhere on the net before. In short – write your own content.
You are solely responsible for the content in your news, including text, data, images and video.
Our network covers news, no self promotion or any sort of advertising of your own events or products and services or overly promotional articles. Also useless articles with no real content are not allowed on our network and will get you banned.
Links inside the news are not allowed and would also not help your earnings.

How to publish news with the Big City Informer News Network and earn money

Apply as Informer
Once approved you will receive your log in details for the Informer Admin page and a “first steps” info
Then you can update your profile, include your details and the Twitter account info.
Next you head to the Big City Informer Advertising Revenue Sharing Setup (follow the setup guide)
Join our Facebook page Big City News (http://www.facebook.com/bigcitynews)
Follow us on twitter (our username is your chosen city (e.g. @Bombayinformer and also @Bigcityinformer for the overall news)
Check that your news is not yet covered on the site
Log in to the Informer Admin page and go to Posts – Add New
Write a good Headline for your news – this is what gets the attention of your readers. Don’t reveal everything in the headline, make them come to read
Write your news, format it nicely, add appropriate tags (really important! 2 to 5 is best), choose the correct category and tick “featured” as well if you want your news to be in the featured section of the informer page (it will only appear once on the homepage). Please do a spell check
Insert your pictures with the “Add an image” button. The first uploaded picture will automatically be used as a thumbnail to highlight your news on the website, this will attract more readers. Pictures have to be in the appropriate format and small in size for faster loading. If your news loads too slow people will rather go to the next article.
Check the preview of the news to see if everything is ok, looks good and is easy to read.
If it is all correct and you want your news to go out, then press publish (you can also schedule this for a later time if needed)
Your news will go live directly
It will also show up on the Big City Informer site automatically
Twitter will send out an update to all followers from our account and also automatically from your twitter account (if you set it up correctly in your profile)
The Big City News Facebook page will show your news
Google will index your news so there will be even more traffic coming
Depending how good your news is people will also read other articles from you.
Google AdSense should show impressions and hopefully clicks soon (they promise daily updates, mostly they are faster though)
Yes, of course you can share the links to your articles in your Facebook, Twitter, Friendster, Digg, MySpace or whatever account you have. You can also post links on your own blog. This way you will get even more visitors, more clicks, more $$$. There are even easy to use buttons under your article to do this (just log in to your social media accounts from another browser window and click the “share on…” link under your Big City News article.
Invite all your Facebook friends to join our Facebook group (upper left side of the page “suggest to friends”. Also invite them to follow us on Twitter so they get the updates much faster.
Last but not least we have a big base of Newsletter subscribers who will get weekly updates via email. Make sure you are registered yourself so you know when you will get that extra traffic and visitors to your news.
